Dear Fellow Lucyfans:
Universal Studios' "Lucy Tribute" to Close
"Lucy: A Tribute," a longtime attraction at Universal Studios in North Hollywood, CA, will close its doors at the end of the month. The museum-like exhibit has been on display for 17 years. A duplicate display at Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida, will remain open for at least another three years.
Shake-Up in Jamestown
Four key members of the Lucille Ball-Desi Arnaz Center board of directors -- including Lucie Arnaz and Desi Arnaz Jr. -- have resigned. Also exiting are Wanda Clark, Lucille Ball's longtime personal secretary, and Mary Rapaport, a Buffalo-area resident and an active supporter of the Center.
All four have been replaced by local Jamestown residents: William Daly, CEO of the Chautauqua County Director of Planning and Economic Development; attorney Edward Fagan; auctioneer Charles L. Ludwig; and Carolyn Seymour, Corporate Deputy Director of the Chautauqua Home Rehabilitation and Improvement Corporation.
Lucie Arnaz, who also served as board president, attributed her resignation to conflicts that she was unable to resolve, but did not elaborate.
This internal "shake-up" is not expected to alter the Center's day-to-day activities, and its two annual festivals -- one over Memorial Day weekend, and one honoring Lucy's birthday in August -- are expected to continue.
We will keep you up-dated if/when additional information is available.
