Dear Fellow Lucyfans,

Here’s Lucy – And a Whole Lot More!

In the past few weeks we have seen the DVD release of The Lucy Show: The Official Sixth & Final Season, and the re-packaging/re-release of the individual seasons of I Love Lucy. Now it’s Here’s Lucy’s turn – and MPI’s release of Season Six is set for Tuesday, December 18 (just in time for Christmas!)…

Included this time around are not only the 24 episodes from the 1973-74 season, but such amazing extras as:

  • Lucy on The Tennessee Ernie Ford Special
  • Lucy, Viv, Lucie Arnaz – and DeDe Ball! – on Dinah! (daytime talk show)
  • Here’s Lucy Savings Bond Special
  • Let’s Talk to Lucy – radio interviews with Andy Griffith
  • New Featurette saluting Lucie Arnaz
  • Assortment of stills, production notes, promos, celebrity intros, etc.
  • The Dinah! episode is a personal favorite of DVD co-producer Dan Wingate. It’s the program of late 1975, in which Lucy and Viv discuss Viv’s I Love Lucy contract.

The Saving Bond Special is a short "episode" (shot on the Unique Employment Agency set) in which Lucy, Kim and Uncle Harry discuss the importance of Savings Bonds. It’s done in sitcom fashion, with a script by Bob O’Brien. Coby Ruskin, the show’s regular director, directed this one, too. It was filmed on September 27, 1973, the same day the cast and crew filmed “Tipsy Through the Tulips,” an episode featuring guest-star Foster Brooks.

The beautiful Here’s Lucy: Season 6 cover art, by the way, was snapped in Lucy's dressing room at Universal (where Here’s Lucy was filmed, 1971-74) on May 18, 1972. It was part of an extensive photo session with the three cast members. Here are a couple alternate shots…

Looks like it's gonna be a Lucy-ful Christmas!
