Lucy, Gilligan and "the Beav"

If you love "classic" television, you will love this compilation of CBS series theme songs. Yes, some of them are "real," and some are new orchestra recordings, but all are the music the way they were meant to be heard... (Sadly, most series today have the briefest of opening themes -- and no closing music: the end credits are all scrunched to one side of the screen to make room for an ad for some future show.)

But in the old days, theme music was an important element of all television programs, and many of CBS' finest are represented here. Because many of the network's shows originated within the walls of Desilu Studios, there is a lot of Desilu history represented here, too. Samples include the theme from "I Love Lucy" (of course!), plus "Mannix," "Mission: Imporssible," and such Desilu tenants as "My Three Sons," "The Andy Griffith Show," "The Dick Van Dyke Show," and "Hogan's Heroes."

Also on the disc are the well-known themes of "The Red Skelton Hour," "Gunsmoke," "Rawhide," "Perry Mason," "Route 66," "Gilligan's Island," "Leave it to Beaver" ... the list goes on and on. There are 58 cuts in all.
